Visiting Historical and Religious Sites When visiting the mosques and churches that carry the spirit of Istanbul;
Visiting Hours: To respect those praying, we recommend visiting mosques outside of prayer times and avoiding church visits during Sunday mass.
Dress Code: It is customary to cover shoulders and knees when entering places of worship. Female guests are kindly requested to wear a headscarf when entering mosques (usually available at the entrance).Silence and Respect: To preserve the spiritual atmosphere, please maintain silence. We kindly ask you to make phone calls outside and avoid using flash photography.
Shoe Etiquette: When entering mosques, please remove your shoes and leave them in the designated areas or carry them with you.
Museums and Archaeological Sites
Preserving Artifacts: Historical artifacts are our shared heritage. To avoid damage, please refrain from touching them. Museum Pass: To avoid waiting in lines, you may consider advantageous "Museum Pass" options.
Food & Drink: Please note that eating and drinking are generally not permitted inside museums and historical sites.
Harmony with Nature When you step away from the city crowds into nature;
Leave No Trace: Let’s leave nature as clean as we found it. Please dispose of trash (especially flammable items like cigarette butts) in appropriate bins or take it back with you.
Respect for Wildlife: To avoid disturbing wildlife, please refrain from playing loud music. It is best to admire animals from a distance and avoid feeding them.
Flora & Fauna: Instead of picking flowers or taking stones as souvenirs, let's immortalize the moment by taking photographs. Fire Safety: Please remember that lighting fires is prohibited outside of designated picnic areas.
Public Transportation Etiquette While experiencing Istanbul like a local;
Istanbulkart: The "Istanbulkart" is valid on the metro, tram, and ferries. You can easily top up your balance at station machines or via mobile apps.
Priority: Allowing passengers to exit first is a universal courtesy. You can contribute to Istanbul's hospitality by offering your seat to pregnant, elderly, or disabled individuals.Comfort & Quiet: Please be mindful of others by avoiding loud conversations and using headphones when watching videos on public transport.
